유지오 개인전: Binding

기립한 조각들은 에너지를 내뿜고 소화하는 기관이다. 이 기관은 인접한 기계를 이용해 특정한 동작을 생산한다. 전기, 공기와 물은 원료이자 연료가 되어 조각에 입력되고, 조각은 자신의 과정을 통해 생성된 또 다른 재료를 산출한다. 조각의 메커니즘은 각기 다르다. 고체의 충돌, 물의 상하운동, 공기의 파열. 이 작동 과정은 반복적으로 새로운 재료를 만들어낸다. 실시간으로 산출되는 재료로서 움직임과 소리는 조각의 일부가 된다. 유지오의 조각은 미리 구성된 단단한 외피의 경계를 넘어, 인접한 액체적 운동들까지 자신의 내부로 편입한다.

Fixed solid on the earth, the upright pieces function as energy-emitting organs in a metabolic process. The sculptures take in electricity, air, and water as raw materials and fuels, and produce another material through their own process. The mechanisms of each sculpture vary, involving collisions of solid materials, oscillations of water and ruptures of air. Movements and sounds become part of the creations in this real-time process. Yoo Jio incorporates the movement of fluids beyond the boundaries of the durable outer layer as part of the creations.
